Irlen Screening for Visual Stress

$120

Please allow 60 minutes for the screening. If prescription lenses are worn, please bring them to the appointment. If vision has not been checked within the last 18 months, it would be advisable to go to your local optometrist prior to the appointment.

If a vision prescription is needed, ask the optometrist to write down the prescription but do not get the glasses made up. Choose a pair of frames that feel comfortable on the face. The screening process is the first step of a two-step process.

It measures the level of visual perceptual difficulty and/or discomfort when looking at black patterns and text on a white background. It also determines if an Irlen coloured overlay relieves or minimises visual perceptual difficulty or discomfort. The second part of the process will be completed at an Irlen Centre where the specific colour (or colour combination) of lens will be determined and ordered. This next part of the process will involve further costs paid directly to the Irlen Centre.
